TUCSON, Ariz. -- A 6-year-old girl sleeping on her living room couch was struck and killed by a bullet that was fired through the front door of her home, sheriff's deputies said.Analissa Monarea-Leon died shortly after being taken to a Tucson hospital, Pima County sheriff's Sgt. James Ogden said. She was in the home with her mother, her mother's boyfriend and two siblings when the shot slammed through the door at about 5 a.m. Tuesday, Odgen said."The person who did this must turn himself in," Ogden said outside the Southwest Tucson home.A Tucson Unified School District official said Analissa was a student at nearby White Elementary School and crisis teams were on the scene by 9:30 a.m."No one is ready to comment," TUSD spokeswoman Karen Bynum said of the school's students or faculty. "The emotions are too raw. They would just break down.Analissa's mother was sleeping in another room, Ogden said. She and her boyfriend heard gunfire and got up to investigate, only to find the child mortally wounded. The two other children in the house were unharmed, Ogden said.Authorities said the mother's boyfriend was arrested at the hospital on a felony warrant for a probation violation involving weapons misconduct. Department of Corrections records indicate Johnathan Rodriguez was released from prison in October 2006 after serving two years for aggravated assault, according to the Tucson Citizen.Detectives were looking for two vehicles that a neighbor said were involved in a shooting outside the home several hours earlier. Ogden said a newer model Chevy Tahoe and an Oldsmobile sedan were seen nearby around 1:30 a.m., and a passenger got out of the Tahoe and fired a gun at the sedan. That shooting was not reported.People with information about the fatal shooting or the two vehicles should call law enforcement authorities at 88-CRIME.ELSEWHERE ON KPHO.COM: The family of a high-school wrestling coach who died of an interaction between two pain medicines has won a $6 million wrongful death award from pharmacy company Walgreen Co.
