Police: Lexus Burglar Drunk During Theft

MESA, Ariz. -- A 20-year-old man who stole a $90,000 Lexus by ramming it through the dealership's showroom window and speeding off the lot was drunk and blacked out during portions of the crime, Mesa police said.The 2008 Lexus 350 was stolen just after 4 a.m. on Sept. 23 from Superstition Springs Lexus. The thief broke into the showroom, found the keys to the car and drove it through the plate glass window, clipping the building and squeezing his way between two cars before heading for the gate.The entire theft was captured on surveillance video, which police released to the media.After the footage was aired on local newscasts, detectives received an anonymous tip implicating a Kearny man.Detectives contacted Paul Miles and said he admitted to breaking into the dealership and stealing the Lexus. Miles said he was drunk at the time and blacked out during the crime, according to police.Miles was arrested on charges of auto theft, burglary and criminal damage. Bond has not been set.
