PHOENIX -- A Maricopa County jury has ruled Sheriff Joe Arpaio did not defame political rival Dan Saban, Buckeye police chief, during the 2004 election.

Saban accused Arpaio of defamation when both of them were running for sheriff.

It centered around a TV report highlighting an old accusation against Saban.

Saban accused Arpaio of using his office to humiliate him.

A civil suit Saban filed claimed that he was defamed when the Sheriff's Office launched a criminal probe on a rape accusation and then tipped-off local media.

Arpaio claimed it was the TV station's fault for running the story.
