PEORIA, Ariz. -- Peoria police said they believe a fatal accident was caused by a teenager who was text messaging on her cell phone and let her car drift into oncoming traffic.SURVEY: Do You Text Message While You Drive? Ashley Miller, 18, was driving a white Ford pickup that crossed the center line of Lake Pleasant Parkway on Monday afternoon, colliding head-on with a silver Dodge PT Cruiser.The driver of the Dodge, 40-year-old Stacey Stubbs, of Chino Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene.Miller was ejected from her pickup and flown to a Valley hospital in critical condition. She later died.Investigators believe the Glendale teen was text messaging on her cell phone when the wreck occurred.The roadway in the area of the collision is one lane in each direction with a small crest before dropping down, officers said.Police said the wreck was a tragic reminder that drivers should devote their full attention to the road and never send text messages while driving.
