Mom Accused Of Beating Son In Wal-Mart

POSTED: 8:27 am MST August 14, 2007

A 29-year-old woman was arrested Sunday, accused of beating her 10-year-old son bloody at a Mesa Wal-Mart, the East Valley Tribune reported.

Mesa police confirmed that witnesses said they saw Tina Lynn Tatum repeatedly punch her son in the head, stomach and back and drag him by his feet inside the store.

Tatum is on lifetime probation for child abuse for her involvement in the 2003 death of her 3-month-old baby, the Tribune reported. Her then-boyfriend, 32-year-old Pedro Peralta, was sentenced to life in prison for shaking the baby to death.

Tatum was booked on suspicion of child abuse, police confirmed.

Her son was placed in a relative's care.
