Viewers Express Sympathy Via E-Mail
"I'm currently in Maui and was contacted yesterday and informed of the loss of the crews aboard the news helicopters from 3 and 15. In public safety we all mourn when we lose a peer as happened yesterday with the death of a Phoenix officer. All of you in the Phoenix media market suffered the same loss yesterday. As I work so closely with all of you I wanted to pass on my condolences and let you know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you." Mike Tellef, Peoria Police"This is a very tragic thing that has happened in our city today. I would like to send my condolences and prayers to the families of the 4 men that perished. If there is anything I can do for the families...please let me know. I'm sure that there will be many people will come together to offer there help also. The whole city is grieving." -- Marla Evel/Marveless Transportation"What a tragedy in Phoenix today! Words cannot adequately express my feelings. This loss affects all of us in so many ways. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of those who were lost--and to the rest of the Valley as well." -- Teresa Biasi"As an Arizonian for 30+ years (born and raised), I am severely saddened by this tragedy. I have watched most all of the news channels periodically since I was little as the rest of us all have and my prayers are with the families and friends of these 4 gentlemen. I have always admired their bravery especially during monsoon season to be in harms way daily and all to keep us aware of what goes on around us and in our communities. God bless them, their families, and everyone in their profession. They will be missed." -- Brandi Pounds
"After seeing the tragic and unfortunate helicopter crash this afternoon involving the pilots and photographers, I was wondering if a memorial or plaque of some sort could be erected, there at the park, honoring these men. Just a thought to honor them for their efforts in bringing us news and photos each day." -- Cody Reader"I just want to say that I have been watching all channels on this crash and Catherine Anaya hit it right on the head when she called us the viewers, extended family, I am so grieved by this horrific accident having watched both stations all of my adult life being a native Phoenician. I thank Catherine for realizing that we viewers out here are grieving also. God bless all of you who put your lives on the line for us." -- Roxanne Allen"What a terrible day for everyone involved in the communications business. My condolences to the families and friends of the folks that were killed today." -- Abbie S. Fink"Channel's 3, 5, 10, 12 and 15, I am sending this e-mail to all 5 Phoenix local TV news stations. The grief that follows the loss of those we love and who we have lost is sometimes unbearable. The valley has lost four outstanding men today. The days, weeks, months and years ahead will be extremely difficult for those who have loved these individuals. I know very well the grief associated with losing a loved one - many of us do. Today's loss is painful and visible to the valley as a whole, but especially to the family, fiends and working family of these dear men who will have to endure individual and personal grief for years to come. As you move through this difficult time please remember the following quote from Bertha Damon (A Sense of Humus) - who said: 'Beauty that dies the soonest has the longest life. Because it cannot keep itself for a day, we keep it forever. Because it can hove existence only in memory, we give it immortality there.' Perhaps this could be part of a memorial stone erected in Indian Steel Park in memory of these men. People may die - but it is the duty of those who survive and who have loved them to always remember them. As an old Jewish saying states 'The only truly dead are those who have been forgotten.'" -- John R. Davis"I am in FL and read this story on Google news. I am so sorry for your loss and I wanted to tell you that I am praying for all of you at this horrific time in your lives. May you all feel God's peace and comfort around you." -- Linda Targett, Naples, Fla."My heart goes out to all of you there. As I watch you ever yday it feels like I know you and am deeply saddened by what has happened. My deepest sympathy to you and the families." -- Kathy"I have been watching the copter crash on-line. I live in Anaheim. What has happened broke my heart. I know that the media was doing a service for us viewers. My prayers and condolences go out to all who have been affected, especially the families of the deceased and the whole media family. God bless." -- Dorothy, Anaheim, Calif."My heart goes out to all the families that was striken by this tragedy today. I feel like this should have been prevented and I pray that justice is done to the gentleman and that someone look into the policies on how these things should be handle by the police." -- Patricia"I am watching your news broadcast of the tragic events in Phoenix. I am watching over KETV.com in Omaha, Nebraska. My offer my condolence to the news family and the families of the crash victims. God Bless you." -- Tim, Omaha, Neb."My Prayers are with you and the families of the Helicopter crew members. Their quick thinking averted a near disaster by coming down in the park and avoiding the near by homes area. They're heroes in my book." -- Larry Wendell Jr."I admit during commercial breaks I'd click over to channel 15 and watch Craig Smith and his dog Molly and see the sunrises that Rick Krolak showed . I liked watching them and I'm going to miss Craig and Rick. My heart goes out not only for everybody at channel 15 and channel 3 and all their friends and families, but to all of you guy's in the media, not only did you loose a bunch of great guy's, but I did too and I share in your grief and sadness." -- Anonymous"My heart just aches for the 4 men who lost their lives in the crash. I just recently moved from Phx (1 month ago)to Tennessee, so I have watched these men on TV and also in the air. My prayers are with you all & all the families." -- Sharon Jones"We live in Kino Bay Mexico, watch the Phx stations on Direct TV. We watched on 5 the police chase then the choppers crashing. What a wonderful job Diana & Mike did on reporting & how you kept it on the air all day, it didnt matter that it was not one of your own chopper & pilot, I could see the agony on Dianas face & how the 2 stepped in for the other when unable to talk, these 2 people are very special in their reporting & the other newscasters who were on later. My hats off to all of you for the wonderful reporting that was done by all at channel 5." -- Gloria Brandt, Kino Bay, Mexico
