Chandler police have increased the reward for information leading to the arrest of a serial rapist from $10,000 to $25,000.

Police said the Silent Witness reward was increased in the hopes of stirring some new leads in the case.

Detectives said they believe there may be some Chandler residents with information about the rapist who have not come forward because they didn't think their information was relevant or important.

"We believe that there are young girls and their parents who live in the city of Chandler who may have been watched, approached or spoken to in the past year by a Hispanic male who resembles the composite drawing," said Detective Chris Perez. "He may have had some excuse to get in your home and then left. He may have made you feel uncomfortable, but you did not report it to the police. We are making an appeal to those of you who have had any experience like these."

The rapist has posed as a utility worker and entered homes with false warnings of a fire. Click here to read about the assaults.

"The person committing these acts against children lives and works within our community," Perez said. "And he will also appear to have a valid reason for being in the area of the attacks."

Perez stressed that "any and all information related to incidents like these is important."

Residents may report information anonymously to Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or Chandler police at 480-782-4479.
