Police investigators said they are shaking their heads in disbelief after two thieves went to great lengths to rob a Phoenix-area drug store.

  • SLIDESHOW: Sequence Of Images
  • Officers said on June 2, two men stole a pickup truck from a business in the area of 3400 South Hawes Road in Mesa.

They drove to a Walgreens drug store on the southeast corner of Ellsworth and Guadalupe roads, police said.

The men then put the stolen truck in reverse and crashed through the front doors, officers said.

They got out, ran around the store trying to steal items, and climbed back into the vehicle, according to investigators.

The men, hoping for a quick and clean escape, discovered their getaway vehicle was going nowhere, police said.

It was wedged in the door frame and stuck in splintered and broken debris.

They left behind a skid mark still visible on the floor today.

The men are in their 20's and have a medium build. The driver had dark hair and long sideburns. The other man had short brown hair and a goatee.

Officers said although no one was in the store at the time, surveillance video captured how the dramatic event unfolded.
