  • Jeri Deanne Perez, 38, had pled guilty last month. The prosecution had asked for 15 years. She was a student teacher for the Gilbert Unified School District.

The 14-year-old Gilbert boy, who was not one of her students, positively identified Perez by describing a tattoo on her lower abdomen and a pierced navel.

The sexual conduct occurred on six separate occasions from November through December of 2006 and occurred at Perez' Gilbert home.

Perez was introduced to the 14-year-old Gilbert boy in connection with her employment at South Valley Junior High School, Gilbert police said.

Perez was employed as a student teacher and known to the victim's family through her employment, officers said.

The victim was attending Mesquite High School at the time.
