PHOENIX -- A construction worker has died on the job in the west Valley.

"Rural/Metro Fire Department received a 911 call reporting that a person had been crushed by a pipe at a construction site," said Alison Cooper with Rural/Metro Fire Department. "The calling party initially reported that the person was crushed underneath that pipe, but still did have a weak pulse."

Cooper said the accident happened at a construction site near El Mirage and Glendale roads.

Cooper said crews responded to the construction site and confirmed the fatality.

The scene has been turned over to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
