Dead Man's Tattoo Key To Identity

POSTED: 4:13 pm MST May 30, 2007
UPDATED: 5:58 pm MST May 30, 2007

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office hopes a photo of a tattoo on the body of a man found dead on Sunday can trigger tips leading to his identity.

Deputies said the body was discovered in a wooded area near Dove Wing Drive outside of Sedona, in Yavapai County.

There were no signs of foul play at the scene. However, the man was clothed only in a pair of shorts and had no identification with him, deputies said.

Nearby residents reported that the man had been seen in the area before, and was possibly a transient, according to investigators.

The Yavapai Medical Examiner ruled the death a case of dehydration.

The man is possibly between 30 to 40 years old with brown hair and blue eyes.

Authorities said they hope someone might recognize a tattoo of a musical treble clef imprinted on his right shoulder.

Currently, investigators said there are no related missing persons cases filed with YCSO, Sedona Police, or the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.

People with information about the possible identity of the man are asked to contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260.
