Are You Living In A Scorpion Hot Spot?

CBS 5 News teamed up with a man who's been tracking scorpions for decades to bring you information about how and where they live and why they attack.

Did you know in Mexico thousands of people, mostly kids, die every year from scorpion stings.

Experts said there are two reasons behind the higher Mexican incident rate. First, there's more open housing. Secondly, the scorpion species south of the border have even more potent venom.

You've probably already heard how residents can unintentionally invite scorpions into their homes. Or how they thrive in certain landscapes around homes, like palm trees or rocky gravel.

But experts said they are also known to travel special trails or paths, much like highways.
