PHOENIX -- A part-time Cottonwood resident was arrested Friday morning, accused of towing a portable meth lab in a trailer.Officials said a Yavapai County sheriff's deputy pulled over a van that was towing a trailer with no license plate just off of Highway 89 in Cottonwood. The driver was identified as 27-year-old Christopher Williamson, of Durango, Colo. Williamson lives part-time in Cottonwood. The deputy said Williamson appeared to be high and failed several field sobriety tests.Williamson was taken into custody and deputies began a search of his van and trailer.Inside the van, deputies said they found a piece of tin foil with burned methamphetamine residue. On the ground underneath the van, they said they found a balloon containing several small bundles of processed meth. When they opened the door of the trailer, the deputies said they found laboratory equipment including glassware, rubber tubing and a propane burner. Labels on several containers in the trailer indicated that they stored acids commonly used to manufacture meth, deputies said.Although the makings of a meth lab were present, the deputies determined that the lab was not presently operating.A hazardous materials team was called in to secure the evidence.Williamson was booked on charges of possession, transportation and manufacture of dangerous drugs for sale; possession of equipment and chemicals to manufacture dangerous drugs; and driving under the influence of drugs.Bond was set at $150,000.
