2 Arrested In Armed Pharmacy Robberies

UPDATED: 11:29 am MST April 19, 2007

Two men were arrested this week in connection with two armed robberies at a Prescott Valley Walgreen's.

Michael Silvius and David Madrid

Prescott Valley police said two men entered the store just after midnight Sunday and robbed the pharmacy. Officers said one of the men showed the pharmacist a handgun tucked into his waistband while the other demanded various prescription narcotics, including Vicodin, OxyContin, Percocet and Viagra. The pharmacist handed over the drugs and the men fled the store.

The pharmacist told police the robbers were the same men who robbed the store March 3.

Police said they received a tip Tuesday evening from a concerned citizen who told them 20-year-old Michael Silvius may have been involved in the robbery. The person said police could find Silvius in Prescott.

Police determined that Silvius had an outstanding felony arrest warrant.

Officers located him in downtown Prescott and said they took him into custody without incident. Police said he had numerous tablets of OxyContin in his possession.

Officers executed a search warrant at Silvius' home and said they seized several other items.

Investigators working overnight identified 22-year-old David Madrid, of Glendale, as the second suspect in the robberies.

Prescott Valley police enlisted the help of the Glendale police special weapons and tactics unit to serve a search warrant at Madrid's home.

Police said Madrid was not home at the time, but was located in Phoenix and taken into custody without incident.

Officers searched his car and said they found evidence linking him to both armed robberies.

Silvius and Madrid were booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of armed robbery. Police said additional charges may be pending.
