Border Patrol Seizes Dumpster Of Pot

PHOENIX -- The Border Patrol made a major pot bust south of Tucson, taking a Dumpster truckload of marijuana off the streets.A trash truck was carrying a lot more than garbage -- almost 13,000 pounds of pot."We took it back to the Nogales Border Patrol station where everything was weighed and it came out at 12,923 pounds of marijuana," said Rob Daniels with the Border Patrol."A total of 560 bundles of marijuana that were inside and had completely filled this roll-off Dumpster," Daniels said.
Daniels said it's one of the largest seizures in the Tucson sector."This is not just a significant seizure for southern Arizona, but it's also one of the largest marijuana seizures in Tucson sector history," Daniels said.Agents were able to stop more than $10.3 million worth of marijuana from hitting the streets.Daniels said the driver, a U.S. citizen, and the truck have been turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
