PHOENIX -- Phoenix police have identified the man whose body was found March 16 in a canal near 56th Street and Loop 101.

Sgt. Joel Tranter said the body was that of Steven Fillmore, 48, who was reported missing Feb. 27.

Fillmore went missing after he rode into the desert near Interstate 17 and Dynamite Boulevard on an all-terrain vehicle in the middle of the night.

His ATV was found in a construction lot near 19th Avenue and Dynamite Boulevard.

Tranter said police are still investigating the cause and circumstances of Fillmore's death.
