Girl Saves Siblings From Fire

PHOENIX -- A Phoenix girl was hailed as a hero Thursday evening after she saved her siblings when their house caught fire.Officials said the girl's mother left greasy food cooking on the stove while she went to the store, and the food caught fire.As the house filled with smoke, the 10-year-old girl pulled her 8-year-old brother, 2-year-old sister and the family dog out of the house.Firefighters arrived at the home near 40th Street and Thunderbird Road shortly before the mother returned to find flames pouring from the house.
Firefighters said they had to quell the flames multiple times because they broke out again when the greasy smoke caught fire.Police said the mother may face neglect charges. Neighbors told CBS 5 News she's had issues in the past.Child Protective Services was reviewing the case Friday.
