Kaibab National Forest Releases Warm Fire Assessment

PHOENIX -- The Kaibab National Forest has released a draft of its assessment of conditions in the area affected by last summer's Warm Fire.The Warm Fire burned about 40,000 acres in the central part of the Kaibab Plateau in northern Arizona from June 25 to July 4.The assessment examines the condition of soils, watersheds, vegetation, wildlife species and habitats, heritage resources, range and recreation facilities and scenery in the area.It also identifies restoration needs and possible ways to address them.
Forest officials have initiated the planning of three recovery projects since field work for the assessment was completed last September.For more information about Warm Fire recovery projects, visit the Kaibab National Forest Web site.
