MESA, Ariz. -- An Amber Alert was canceled Wednesday morning for a Mesa woman and her 1-year-old son after they were found safe by a Riverside County sheriff's deputy in Blythe, Calif.A representative of the Riverside County Sheriff's Office said the deputy spotted a broken-down vehicle at a gas station around 1:20 a.m. and found 20-year-old Noemi Ramirez and her 1-year-old son, Isidro, inside. The deputy said Ramirez told him she'd traveled to California of her own free will. The RCSO representative said Ramirez contacted her family in Arizona, they drove out to Blythe to help her fix her car and then they all returned to Arizona. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office had issued an Amber Alert on Monday after a witness said two men forced Ramirez and Isidro into a pickup outside the Ramirez's home near University Drive and Crismon Road around 4:30 a.m.The incident was not reported until 1:30 p.m.
MCSO Public Information Officer Doug Matteson said the FBI joined the search late Monday night and was concerned that the abductors may have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border. The Border Patrol was alerted and was keeping a close lookout for the pickup, Matteson said.Matteson said officials were worried for the child's welfare. Isidro had several nosebleeds over the past couple days and was sick for the past few weeks but was never taken to the hospital, Matteson said.An MCSO spokesman said Wednesday that Ramirez and Isidro had been found in good health.
