UPDATED: 12:50 pm MST December 22, 2006

Chandler police are asking for help finding a suspicious man.

Police said the man entered an apartment on Ray Road through a window at 2:15 a.m. on Nov. 11. Officers said he tried to get a 12-year-old girl who was sleeping on the couch to leave with him, telling her there was a fire and they needed to get outside. He left when she called for her mother, who was nearby.

Police said the man also showed up three times at an apartment on McQueen Road. He knocked on the door one afternoon in late October, telling the 11-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy inside that there was a fire. Police said he left when they went outside to look for it.

Officers said he knocked on the same door during the afternoon of an unknown later date. Police said he asked the boy and girl for something but left when they couldn't understand him.

At 7 a.m. Dec. 19, police said, an adult in the same apartment heard the front door open and found the man standing inside the apartment. The man said there was a fire and then ran away, officers said.

Police said the man is Hispanic, between 25 and 35 years old, is unshaven and speaks with a Spanish accent. He is short, stocky and possibly overweight. He was last seen wearing a gray knitted skullcap, a baby blue Members Only jacket and blue jeans. Police said he may be driving a gray or light-blue older domestic model car.

No one was hurt or threatened in any of the four incidents and the man was not seen with a weapon.

Investigators ask that anyone with information about the man call Chandler police at 480-782-4130.
