Position Summary: The nature of the internship is meant to mimic real jobs in the newsroom. There will be phone answering and message taking, to the extent one would do as an assignment editor or reporter. Any special projects done would be equal to that of someone on staff. In the spring and fall semesters, there is a bi-weekly report about what was learned in each section of the internship plus a final evaluation. In the summer, reports are due weekly. There is no winter session. The internship is designed to teach a prospective reporter/producer/assignment editor what it takes to put a news story on the air. Interns learn all the jobs in a newsroom: Assignment Editor, Producer, Photographer, Editor, Reporter, Production and Investigative unit. The goal is to produce at least one television story to have on a resume tape.
Salary: None
Travel: Interns will be required to be at the station at a required time. Occassionally, they may need to drive to a location for a story.
Number Of Credits 3 or 6 credits
Distance: 15 miles from ASU
Dress Code: Professional - dress pants, shirts, skirts, dresses
Preferred Schedule: Set individually
