Dentist's Disgruntled Patients Continue Coming Forward

Since 5 Investigates aired a story on Dr. David Naisbitt in May, more of the dentist's disgruntled patients have come forward to file complaints against him.

5 Investigates originally found 60 complaints against Naisbitt in Oregon and nine in the Valley.

Over the past month, more than a dozen of his current and former patients contacted CBS 5.

Three came to the studio to tell their stories.

John Vojtko said he paid Naisbitt $25,000 for dental implants.

"Now what am I going to do? I owe $25,000, for what? Nothing? I can't eat anything," Vojtko said.

Vojtko said Naisbitt told him he used airplane glue to hold the implants in place. It seems the glue didn't quite work.

"He appeared to know what he was doing," Shirley Seal said.

Seal said she paid Naisbitt more than $22,000.

"He did part of it, but he did not complete it," Seal said.

Larry Wright said he was confident he was being treated by one of the best in the business. His son researched Naisbitt on the Internet and found nothing out of the ordinary.

"It was an impressive resume that the doctor had," Wright said.

Wright said he spent more than $15,000 and still has loose-fitting teeth.

"I'm hoping still that, in the end, that I'll get some satisfactory implants," Wright said.

After 5 Investigates aired its original investigation, the Arizona Dental Board took action, immediately suspending Naisbitt's license.

5 Investigates also discovered that Naisbitt sold his practice and may have left the state.

5 Investigates talked to Naisbitt before the first investigation aired. Reporter Tammy Leitner tried to speak to him again for the follow-up investigation, but was unable to track him down.

5 Investigates learned that Naisbitt allegedly collected more than $187,000 from patients and never completed the work.

"He got paid in full before I even sat in the chair," Vojtko said.

"I'm still in limbo," Wright said.

"Three years of hell that I've been through," Seal said.

Some of Naisbitt's former patients have filed civil suits. Others took their complaints to the dental board.

The board will hold a future hearing to decide whether to permanently revoke Naisbitt's license.
