FBR Seeks Volunteers

POSTED: 8:21 pm MST January 19, 2009

Volunteers are still needed at the 2009 FBR Open to help man tournament concession stands and help marshal.

The quickest and easiest way for people to volunteer for concession stand duty is to go to www.phoenixpanhellenic.org and click on the FBR Open option.

Those interested in volunteering in other areas, such as marshaling, should visit www.fbropen.com and click on the “Volunteer” link on the left.

“The FBR Open wouldn’t be the ‘Greatest Show on Grass’ without the more than 4,000 volunteers that annually support this golf tournament,” said 2009 FBR Open Tournament Chairman John Felix. “We’re hopeful folks will remember that the FBR Open is all for charity and will take time to volunteer.”

The FBR Open is the best-attended golf tournament in the world and has raised more than $61.7 million for charities, with more than $33.6 million generated in just the last five years alone.

The 2008 FBR Open raised a PGA TOUR record $8,652,542 for charity.

Annually sporting by far the largest crowds for any golfing event in the world, the FBR Open has gained legendary status for being a unique stop on the PGA TOUR.

The 2009 edition, to be played Jan. 26 through Feb. 1, will mark the 74th playing of the event, and the sixth as the FBR Open, making it one of the five oldest events on the PGA TOUR.
