Talented and down-home sweet, newbie author Janice Lynn looks to change the world one happily-ever-after at a time.' Read on ...

MB:What or who inspired your novel?

JL: My good friend and fellow author Lindsey Brooks inspired my novel. We'd be on the telephone and she'd say "Oh! 'The Bachelor' (or 'Survivor,' 'Average Joe,' etc., you get the idea) is on." and she'd hang up on me mid-conversation. I teased that I was going to write a book set on a reality television show so we could have an entire conversation. The idea nagged at me, I did some research on-line (as I am not a reality television buff), and I wrote "Jane Millionaire."

MB: What do you like most about your novel?

JL: I fell in love with the characters right away. Jill is such a wonderful heroine. She's far from perfect, but loyal to her family and friends. She has a high sense of honor and of what's right and wrong. I like that she's a bit gutsy and not afraid to hang in a man's world, yet she longs to be in touch with her more feminine nature, too. On Rob, well, he's the kind of man I admire in real life. He's not perfect either and in some ways he reminds me of my husband. He makes mistakes, does things that I'd like to strangle him for, and yet I wholeheartedly love him anyway, because when it comes down to it, he's a great guy. Rob's like that. The secondary characters were a hoot to write as well.

MB: Who is the most heroic person you know?

JL: This one's easy. My husband. He's honest, good-hearted, tough on the outside and tender on the inside (I doubt he'll like me saying that, though), romantic enough to keep the things he does special and unexpected, a bit naughty from time to time, and just an all-around wonderful man who I love and respect. He's my real life hero and why I believe in romance.

MB: Who's your romance hero: dark, brooding bad boy or white knight in shining armor?

JL: Can't I have both? I mean, Brad Pitt in "Troy" was dark, brooding, and bad-boyish. Yet, he was also every bit the knight in shining armor, too. So much so that love sealed his fate in his attempt to be that knight in shining armor. I prefer a healthy mix of the two.

MB:Answer the question you wish an interviewer would ask.

JL: "Jane Millionaire" is your debut book, so with all the genres out there and your varied life experiences, why did you choose to write a romance?

First, I love to read romance, so I feel it's natural I'd want to write romance. I work as a nurse practitioner and quite often deal with death, disease, and other of life's harsher realities. When I read, I want to know there's going to be a happy ending, because in real life, that's not a guarantee. Romance promises that happy ending. I'm not out to change the world or to impart some major piece of knowledge with my writing. I want to provide readers with a smile, a laugh, a few hours of escape where they can go through the ups and downs of the characters and know good will triumph over evil and the woman will get the man of her dreams. Instilling that hope, making people believe happily-ever-afters are attainable and worth struggling for, well, it just might change the world one person at a time and impart a wisdom that says there's a reason to trudge forward despite the odds. So maybe I am out to change the world and impart knowledge -- one happily-ever-after at a time.
