Man Earns Record For World's Tallest Mohawk

Omaha Musician Donates Hair, Proceeds To Charity Groups

POSTED: 8:35 am MST November 18, 2008

A Nebraska has the world's tallest mohawk, and some charities are reaping the rewards.

Eric Hahn on Friday broke the Guinness World Record for having the tallest mohawk haircut. It measured 27 inches, beating the old record by 3 inches.

Hahn said he got the idea after seeing the previous record holder on "The Ellen Show."

But Hahn, a local musician, didn't go for the record for fame and fortune –- He did it for charity. Hahn donated the hair that was cut to create the mohawk to Locks of Love. The group collects hair to be made into wigs for cancer patients.

"I wanted to take advantage of the many years I've invested in growing my hair, so I decided to use it to raise money and awareness for charity," Hahn said.

Hahn's band and other groups staged a concert Friday night to benefit Locks of Love and the Omaha charity Project Nightlights.
