ASU Students Scalp Obama Grad Tickets

A seat in Sun Devil Stadium has rarely commanded so much coin.

On Web sites like Craiglist, Arizona State University students are selling tickets to watch President Barack Obama deliver the keynote speech at the Spring graduation ceremony.

One student, who only wanted to go by Jack, said he sold a pair for $225. "The particular people that I sold to have seen President Obama previously and wanted to see him again," Jack said.

Most students are selling for anywhere between $50 and $100.

One student was looking to trade each ticket for a 30-pack of beer.

Each graduating student gets a ticket for themselves and six tickets for family and friends, and some said they wouldn't give them up for anything.

"I wasn't originally going to go to commencement, but when I heard Obama was coming I said, 'Yeah, I'll definitely go,'" said ASU senior Karina Richardson.

The school recently warned graduating students against selling their tickets. The warning said that students could lose all their tickets if they're caught.

Jack said he has four more tickets, but he might just avoid the hassle and give them away.

"I'm going to be in Mexico, and I really don't care about the president," he said.
