CBS 5 Women Win Charity Ironman Event

PHOENIX -- The CBS 5 News relay team took home top honors at the Ironman Arizona Mayor's Media Challenge in Tempe on Thursday morning, beating Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman and other members of the Valley's media organizations to win first place.Producer Bonnie Loftus, investigative reporter Tammy Leitner and evening news anchor Catherine Anaya swam, biked and ran their way, respectively, to the finish line to win $1,000 for charityTempe Mayor Hugh Hallman finished second in the chilly challenge, which involved a 24-yard swim, a 1.12-mile bike ride and a 0.26-mile run -- each 1/100th of the requirement for the Ironman Arizona, which takes place Sunday.The CBS 5 News women will donate their $1,000 prize to Girls on the Run, a charity devoted to helping pre-teen girls gain self esteem and maintain healthy lifestyles through running.This year’s event was the first to allow a relay team by request; other entrants competed individually:
